Review:: Taylor and the Wild Now | Taylor and the Wild Now
For Fans of: The Head and the Heart, Oh Honey, Dawes, Ben Howard
If you could bottle the feeling of a lazy afternoon, this EP would be it.
Taylor & The Wild Now’s self-titled debut EP showcases Taylor Baker (guitar, vocals, banjo) and Drew Walker’s (guitar, trumpet) respective talents with bright, melodic riffs and enticing melodies.
Review:: Halo | Ballyhoo!
Ballyhoo! epitomize summertime. I mean, they just do. It’s almost unfair how easily this band encapsulates the season.
On their first release following their 5th studio album, Pineapple Grenade, the group enlisted John Feldmann’s proficiency for the forthcoming EP. While it’s only three songs, one of which being a cover, it still does what a Ballyhoo! release should do – it provides music to tap a foot to and sway along with.

Most people would be familiar with you as the frontman of A Rocket To The Moon. What has been the biggest difference between playing in a band and doing more of a solo project as you are now?
It’s a little more honest. I can be myself. I don’t care about being this front man rockstar type that a lot of guys in bands want so badly. I just like being me and playing songs about my life.

Review:: Matt Pryor/James Dewees Split
Later this year, Pryor will be releasing his newest solo record, Wrist Slitter – his third album on his own. But, being the marathoner that he is, he teamed up with James Dewees, of Reggie and the Full Effect and My Chemical Romance fame (and, you know, The Get Up Kids as well), to release a short split EP beforehand.
The first of his three tracks, “I Can Be So Cold,” is a full-band effort reminiscent of what we’ve grown to love about Pryor’s music. His definitive voice is just as it has always been, coupled kindly with trademark lyricism, slammed piano keys, and harsh guitars.
Review:: Under Fire EP | Under Fire
Under Fire is a five piece pop-punk band hailing from New Hampshire who are releasing their first EP which also happens to be called Under Fire. This EP takes me back to the pop-punk I was listening to back in the late 90’s and early 00’s. Nothing says pop-punk more than an album four songs and roughly 13 minutes in length.
When I loaded up the songs the first thing that came to mind was how much Josh Carley’s vocals made me think Max Bemis of Say Anything. The second thing that came to mind was how much the music itself was reminiscent of The Ataris.
Review:: Definitely Different | Jodi Good
However, that doesn’t leave just a big pile of hopelessness for those who haven’t found major labels or sold-out venues.
Cue Jodi Good – a 22 year-old New York City-based singer/songwriter with a soulful voice, a scholarship from Berklee, and an eccentricity that rivals most. On her debut EP, Good produces a handful of tracks that range from heartbreakingly vulnerable to infectiously poppy.
Review:: New Again | The Press War
We added The Press War to our most recent compilation back in June, and rightfully so – their sound is a perfect fit for a playlist meant for summertime. And that sound, which combines the likenesses of The Starting Line, Motion City Soundtrack, and Anberlin into one, is present throughout the EP.
Review:: Lift Your Existence | Night Verses
You can watch two and a half episodes of a sitcom. You can run a few miles, if you want. You can record seven-hundred and forty videos on Vine, if that’s your thing.
But, with their seventy-four minutes of [debut, I must add] album space on Lift Your Existence, Night Verses brilliantly execute everything that is the post-hardcore genre. Picking up where the remnants of his disbanded group left off, ex-The Sleeping vocalist Douglas Robinson keeps his reputation intact, lending strong support to the reaction that was received after 2012’s Out of the Sky debut EP.
