National Suicide Prevention Week (September 7 – September 13) and World Suicide Prevention Day (September 10) are right around the corner and non-profit organization, To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA), has announced their fourth annual campaign. This year’s campaign is inspired by the words that founder Jamie Tworkowski used to close out last year’s “No One Else Can Play Your Part” campaign. Read the excerpt below:
“Above all else, we choose to stay. We choose to fight the darkness and the sadness, to fight the questions and the lies and the myth of all that’s missing. We choose to stay, because we are stories still going. Because there is still some time for things to turn around, time for surprises and for change. We stay because no one else can play our part. Life is worth living. We’ll see you tomorrow.”
These words are not only powerful, but extremely meaningful to TWLOHA. “Hope always involves tomorrow. It’s choosing to believe that things can change, that tomorrow can look different than today.” The campaign will run from now until September 13th and TWLOHA is looking to raise $75,000 via Classy, all of which will go to treatment and recovery. 1) Buy The World Suicide Prevention Day pack.
Each pack includes a shirt, a bracelet, 3 poster prints, a response card, and 15 info cards. All of these items are meant to equip you to talk about suicide prevention in your community. Use them as conversation starters, encouraging reminders, and informative tools to share with others.
2) Join the conversation on social media.
Join the conversation and post photos using #Tomorrow15 & #WSPD15. There will also be specific ways to participate during National Suicide Prevention Week (#NSPW15), and we will share those with you as it gets closer.
3) Fundraise for suicide prevention.
From now until the end of NSPW, every dollar raised through our NSPW 2015 StayClassy page will go directly to funding treatment and recovery.
