  1. Premiere:: “Say My Name” - Douglas ★ Warren

Sometimes the last places we’d ever want to be lead us to where we need to go. For vocalist Chris Douglas Keller, Brooklyn seemed like it had become home. After tragedy struck, Keller uprooted his life in the Big Apple, heading back to home in Illinois and began creating music under the moniker Douglas ★ Warren. On his new single “Say My Name,” Keller pleads to the city he had to leave behind. “I had to move back to Illinois to recover,” he says, “it isn’t only remembering something special from my point of view, but asking something special from a city I shared such a bond with.” Keller tells us this is one of the most honest songs he has ever written, and this honesty presents itself in the true emotion ringing through. 2. Video Premiere:: “Waste Away” - Faithless Town

    image

Building toward their second full-length album, we’ve teamed up with Atlanta-bred Faithless Town to debut the visual stream for their lead single “Waste Away.” Whether it’s the dark, heavy verses or the light, airy chorus, frontman Gene Owens’ vocals help craft a sound that is part Bruce, part Bowie, the 80’s, 90’s, and modern mainstream all blended together.

Owens shared with us how the track came to be. “After discovering them at a big outdoor music festival, I spent a lot of time listening to The National. I fell in love with their last album Trouble Will Find Me. One day during that period I sat down and starting strumming the guitar and before long I had “Waste Away.” The song evokes the imagery of a hopeless office worker that feel disenchanted with life and wants more than anything to escape in search of something better. With the production we looked to a lot of Smiths records to emulate how Johnny Marr would overdub multiple guitars to create a dreamy, lush soundscape.” Check out the visual stream for “Waste Away” below and keep your eyes peeled for Faithless Town’s full-length album Empires, to be released on June 2nd!

  3. Premiere:: “Cold (Revisited)” - Amanda Markley

    image

We are thrilled to share that we have teamed up with the incredibly talented Amanda Markley to premiere her latest single, “Cold (Revisited).” Much like the weather in the city she calls home, this stripped-down version of Seattle vocalist Amanda Markley’s “Cold” is dark, damp, and dreary. But lowered temperatures and tempos come with plenty of chills, and Markley’s aching voice sends shivers running over your skin. “‘Cold’ is a song about longing and sadness,” Markley states, “and I wanted to revisit it because I connect so closely to its lyrics. I wanted to record a version where the raw emotions I was feeling in the lyrics match the way they’re delivered.”

Markley has been hard at work over the last few weeks, diligently writing and recording her self-titled EP, which will be released May 6th. The five-track EP, which was written and produced with the help of some fellow Washington-based artists (Adamm Mitchell, Chase Manhattan, Matt Bacnis, and Chloe Hendrickson), features this revisited single. Whether it’s the fuller version or its gray counterpart, “Cold” is sure to please and Markley is poised for something special. Don’t believe us? Give “Cold (Revisited)” a listen below!

  4. PREMIERE:: “Teenage Evolution” - Love In October

    image

We are excited to premiere “Teenage Evolution,” the brand new single from Swedish pop/rock duo Love In October. For brothers Erik and Kent Widman, limitations are hardly a burden but rather a tool to be used. But don’t take it from us: “‘Teenage Evolution’ is more about a feeling than a theme,” Erik said about the track. “It’s the feeling of hopping in a convertible, driving down highway 101 with the wind blowing in your hair, and not having a care in the world. We tried to capture the feeling of summer, love, and youth wrapped into 3 minutes of pop bliss.”

On Love in October III, the band’s first release since 2011, the duo used minimal equipment within a strict time restriction, resulting in fresh, snappy pop that shows no sign of the four-year hiatus that preceded. The EP will be released on April 22nd and fans can head over to the band’s Facebook here to check out the artwork and track listing.

  5. Video Premiere:: “Oceanside” - Autopilot

    image

We’re happy to premiere the brand new video for “Oceanside” from Saskatoon alt-rockers Autopilot. The video lets you live vicariously through the eyes of someone spending their life on the road – which is something we’ve all dreamed of at least once or twice. Autopilot brings a refreshing twist to the feel-good music we all crave, filled with dreamy vocals and catchy hooks.

When discussing the concept of the video, vocalist Marlon Harder shares, “The video for “Oceanside” is a glimpse into life on the road. We’ve spent much of the past few years touring. This is some of the footage from northern Ontario to Texas to Florida and everywhere in between. “Oceanside” was inspired by a few particular days we spent in Atlantic City as well as California and long tours of excess and the blur that can be life.“

  6. Video Premiere:: “Hill Top” - Josh Stevens

    image

We’ve teamed up with RIAA Platinum Certified, Grammy Nominated Recording Artist Josh Stevens to premiere a very special live video. Having previously worked with artists including LMFAO, Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull and Steve Aoki, producer Josh Stevens decided in 2014 that it was time to finally focus on creating music for himself. Thus, the Story of Summer EP was born. Released just last month, the EP revolves around the rise and fall of a roller coaster relationship which follows Josh through different emotional stages. We are happy to premiere the live video for the EP’s first single “Hill Top.”

Stevens teamed up with LSTN Headphones to film the video to help bring awareness to the company and it’s mission. "Super excited to partner with LSTN Headphones on this live unplugged version of “Hill Top,” says Stevens. “It helps bring purpose to music by furthering LSTN’s cause of giving hearing aids to communities around the world with each headphone purchase.“ Yup. You read that right. For each purchase made through LSTN Headphones, the company helps to provide hearing aids to people in need through their charity partner, the Starkey Hearing Foundation. Since 2013, the company has given the gift of sound to over 20,000 people. For more information on LSTN Headphones, click here!

  7. Premiere:: “Jacob” - Lyke Giants

    image

We are thrilled to premiere “Jacob,” the brand new single from Australian indie rock trio, Lyke Giants! The track is one that builds up slowly, but once it does, it’ll hit you hard. Filled with spacey guitars and ethereal synths, “Jacob” takes you on a journey of self discovery.

When discussing the meaning behind the track with us, frontman James Brewer shares, ““Jacob” is a transparent account of my own journey over the last three years. The songs beginning formed from being heavily impacted by the biblical story of Jacob wrestling with God to receive a new name. However that story stuck with me and evolved, showing me how I could personally relate and how I had to have a similar experience myself to really believe.”
